HEY ALL FISHED MENDOTA VA,WICH IS THE NORTH FORK OF THE HOLSTON,DIDNT HAVE MUCH LUCK CAUGHT ABOUT 12 ALL TOGETHER.LARGE SUN FISH SOME RED EYES,AND SOME SMALLIES.MOSTLY ON SMALL RAPALAS,AND ROOSTERS.THE WATER WAS MUDDY FROM THE RAINS EARLIER IN THE NIGHT.BUT ALL IN ALL IT WAS GOOD TO GET OUT.HEY JOE DOESNT THAT RIVER LOOK FAMILIAR.

Too bad y'all didn't have a REAL fisherman w/ya!! LOL

ISNT THAT WIERD.I LOOKED AT IT WHEN I DOWNLOADED IT AND ALMOST CRAPPED.

My dad grew up on that river and we used go out there several times a summer fishin'. Lots of smallies, catfish, bluegill, and redeye. I've not been on it in 3 years, but the 1 fish @ 21+" limit seams to have brought the big fish back...

THAT WAS MY FIRST TIME THERE.THE WATER WAS MUDDY BUT WE STILL GOT QUITE A FEW.I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK WHEN THE WATER IS CLEAR.TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE LIMITS IN THAT RIVER.

They put a one fish over 21" limit on the smallies about 8 or 9 years ago to the TN line. Lots of big fish in there now.. The river has a do not eat mercury advisory on it and has had for as long as I can remember (30 years?). The old Olin company in Saltville polluted it years ago and you just can't get the mercury out because it's so heavy.. My dad's 64 and when he was a kid, he said it ran completely white with pollution.. and they still ate the fish and were glad to get it! The river is typically very clear now, but changes very quickly during heavy rains due to all the surrounding farm land. When it's clear you can fish it fast with topwaters and stay in the boat. When it's muddy, you are better off to get out of the boat and soak a black jig, worm, or tube around some cover or ledges...
