I know this topic has probably been discussed before on here but how many anglers still prefer using lures that were made say over 10 years ago or longer verses the newer baits of today. Now I know this is not a fair qustion for the youger guys but it will also give the younger guys lures to look for while out at yard sales and swap meets that they know worked back years ago. I do use new lures myself but if I can see an opportunity I will pick up and older bait and fish it as often as possible. etnfishing/character0053.gif etnfishing/character0053.gif

Well my dad for one loved the old AC shiner, and RAPALA topwaters. I like them also but don't use them anymore for of losing them sentimental value.

Great topic Softy.

I would have to say Heddon's Baby Zara Spooks. Heddon actually brought these back, because i found a couple in the smorgasbord box that Walmart sometimes has.

My Dad and I were going through some old tackle boxes he had in his storage building about three years ago and ran across about a dozen of these baits.

I got them and took all of the hardware off and sent them off for a custom paint job. Once I got them back and got all new hooks, split rings, etc., attached, I was ready to try them out.

Had some good success early last fall on Douglas. Also caught some early summer Boone bass on it as well.

We used to throw these baits years ago on Fontana and Santeelah over in NC.

Another one I would throw in the mix, would be a #11 floating rapala. Deadly in the fall on those mountain lakes.

I like the older Bomber crankbaits, they are made of heavier plastic and have a better wobble and sound than the new ones.

I could talk for ever about this topic Softy!

I need to add the faithful Rebel Deep W R's.. Lots of success on these baits as I was growing up. I would think the Bandit Lures took a lot of market share from Rebel, but still yet the W r's were awesome in their day.

Gosh,,If I keep this up, I am really going to feel like an old man!!!! laugh.gif

brown orange belly wee-r is the best plug ever made in my opionion. I fish it all year long.

I like to throw the Super R's more than the Wee R's, and the wee R's are great baits. I don't have a whole lot left. My brother gave me some very old home plugs ..some 25 to 30 years old and they are great.

Jtewes, lets -*test*-('") your Rebel bait old age here and you answer this question? Do you remember the old original Hump Back Rebels? etnfishing/poke.gif etnfishing/poke.gif

milkshake, just to let you know they still make the AC Shiners and a store down here still has them in the boxes on the shelves. I can get you some if you would like to keep the old ones from your dad and still be able to fish the new ones. etnfishing/character0053.gif

I like those little scoopers also.

I still fish the jitterbugs at night in Black Broken backs, I still fish the black and red Hula Poppers at night, I still fish the Torpedoe's at night in Chrome black backs. I fish the original Heddon Grey hard plastic Field Mouse, I still fish the old Hump Back Bagley Minnow baits made from Balsa wood because they don't rattle and fish them like a hard Jerk bait in shallow water. Now to go soft I fish the old original Flip tail worms in 7" and 9" on C-rigs, I fish the old Producto Paddle tail worms in 8 and 10 inch for floating worms, I fish the old original Uncle Josh Pork chunks every chance I get even though I made about 11 different plastic chunk styles because I just thing that real chunks are better. Now that is just to name some of my old arsenal of baits. There are many more that I have and still use. Oh yea one more that I use when most folks are using Rattle traps is I bring out my Old Luhr-Jensen Sugar Shads. etnfishing/character0053.gif etnfishing/character0053.gif
