Could anyone tell me the best way to paint bass jigs? I paint my sauger jigs with powder paint but it dosent work very well with bass jigs because you have to heat the heads and it messes up the brush guards!

you could use vinyl paint. With a epoxy clear or some type of clear.

heres how I do mine: First I melt the loose end of the fiberguard.(do this before you pour the jig head) I stick it to my lead pot for just a second. Get some 1/8 dia. copper tubing, I cut mine just a little shorter than the fiberguard. Put the copper tubing over the fiberguard, then heat the jig head remove the copper tube, I turn my jig to the side and let it slid off. (Dont grab it with your fingers it does get warm) Dip in powder paint. When you bake them put the tubing over the fiberguard. I bake mine at around 100-120 degs.for about 50 min. This keeps the fiberguard from distorting. The temp. the manufacture reccomends to bake them with fiberguards is too hot. It causes the fiberguard to distort.

I paint mine before i take out the in for the guard.After the paint dries you can take out the pin an glue in the guard.

I paint mine first also can't figure out how to tie hair with it on. A lot of guys want them molded in so they slide a skirt on them, I have to do all the hard work

that's why i wanted the single wire weed guard. i cannot figure out how to tie the hair on either.

Where do you get the wire weed guards at to fit the holes in the jigs

pm softworm and i am sure he will tell you. he pours some beautiful jigs.

I make them out of steel leader material in the saltwater section at BPS. they have different thicknesses and work really well
