For all you braided Line, and Power Pro line users, do you use a leader all the time? What about for top water? If you use a leader, what kind of knot do you use to tie the lines? I'm new to the braid and Power Pro, but am going to try it for more than just flippin.

Thanks Fellas!!! etnfishing/toast.gif

6-10 ft P-Line CXX 8-10 lb. Uni-uni knot on leader, improved clinch on lure. Same for all baits. Or get some of the new Lucky Craft topwater line. Its nice biggrin.gif

You dont have to use a leader, just a matter of confidence for me. Oh and PP floats

No leader for me either, unless it is the FnF.

Fireline, 14 lb, 3 lb dia. uni- knot and a 2 -3 ' florocarbon 12 lb. -*test*-('") leader for Shakey head.

No leader here. Thats just one more chance one of my bad knots will come un-glued biggrin.gif

If you havent tried any Fireline, give it a try. I use 6 or 8lb and really like the stuff. Casts a mile and super sensitive.

charger, do you use Fireline on Spinning or Castying? I use it on a spinning rig. i must agree with you about tying the lure directlly to the fireline, there at the last i was in a hurry and left off the leader and it seemed to have a better feel.

I use it on my spinning rod, but I will be using it on baitcasters when I can afford another spool biggrin.gif

snooterfish- 11-27-2007
i get the refill spools and use backing. what would be agood weight to use on a casting rig?

stonewall- 11-27-2007
On my casting stuff I usually use the 30lb that has 8 dim.

JIGnJ()N- 11-27-2007
do you guys think it is better to have the leader for topwater as far as spooking fish? I spooled up some Power Pro on my spinning rod today and put a leader of 12 lb Berkley Vanish Transition, but i am a little leary of that uni knot for the Power Pro and 12 lb mono unsure.gif

etnfishing/wavesmile.gif stonewall, is that dia pretty easy to cast without getting a birdsnest or it digging down in the spool? laugh.gif or i guess i could say a professional over run occuring on ocassiio laugh.gif
