Oh yeah, On the guides....That is one thing i'm not crazy about on my Bionic Blade...the eyes towards the tip are TINY. If I try to use a floro leader when using braid, it catches everytime on the tip its so small.

how long of a leader are you using bubba

if i see bubba comming in them cowboy boots with 6" spurs, i will leave the building

I'm talking like if I was fishing in the river, I would use maybe a 6-8ft leader of floro and when the knot would come through the eyes, it catchs everytime.

Use an 8-12 ft leader. The extra line gives it some umph to make it thru the giudes. I dont have any problems with mine at all. What lb -*test*-('") leader do you use?

Gosh, I have alot of great custom rods and built exactly as I ordered them and never paid $650.00 for one. In fact I can get almost 3 rods for that kind of money. And my builder is using some great light blanks with wonderful feel. The only problem I have with custom rod builders is I find they are very independent and you will get your rods when they get ready to build them and not when you want them in most cases. Like I ordered 3 rods from him in Novemeber last year and finally got last one a month ago just in time to make the Skeeter Owners Tournament on ClarksHill in South Carolina. But like they say, "good things come to those who wait". Now as far as guides go most of you guys are right about the guides being to small and I don't like the Fuji or any eyes that have a ceramic insert in them very much. I realize that is what most rod makers are using on many brands of rods. I prefer the Zinc Oxide guides purely because they will stand up under the pressure of braid and they give a great feel to any type of lines. I just think that the ceramic inserts hide or insulate a lot of the soft bites and many bites are missed due to that. This is JMHO

WOW $650 is a lot for a rod isnt it.

Thats why I didnt order it. I never met the guy, I have seen some of his rods, just too much "bling" for me. He like to put decorative crap all over the blank.

bling is just something else to worry about scratching during use and like mj says some people overload it. i like plane thread, handle to fit me, not someone else and guides to my prospective. when ever ya are ready brother

Snoot, I am still gonna get you to build me a good rod sometime or another. Seein as I got that shimano from Mike, May need me another Rod to fit it!
