Thanks alot guys for all the tips! I'm gonna have to get me some jigheads and try this out sometime.

Do you guys usually fish it on steeper sloping banks?(like 45 degree's or more) Or what would be some of the "prime" areas to fish this?

You will be using them Saturday, so you better get some.... biggrin.gif etnfishing/toast.gif

[FONT=Arial][SIZE=7][COLOR=blue] I'm a little new to using the shaky head jigs got a good lesson on them on Mille Lacs a large lake in Central Minnesota. My fihsing partner was using a 16 oz shaky head T rigged with a four inch finnese worm with very little action on the presentation put some nice fish in the boat. I was struggling with my mini craws and little brush hawgs.

Fished on Lake Michigan in July rigged the wifes spinning outfit up with the same rig(just exposed the hook) and a 4 inch Berkley finesse worm she had the best fishing day of her life for Smallies. She never missed a hookset as they were slamming it. I used her as a color -*test*-('")er all day repeatedly changing colors if there wasn't a bite in three casts they didn't want it.

Just read your post about using the shakeyhead on Lake Michigan. Sounds like you and your wife had a great day. Glad to know it works on the Great Lakes. Will give it a try on Erie next time up. Smallies there may have a similar reaction as you got on Michigan. Haven't gotten to go up this year as much as I thought we would have.

As for the color, watermelon seems to work best for me in East Tennessee. Wonder if that will hold true on Erie?

Thanks for posting the info.

Hey guys, I've been trying to get the feel for these the past little bit. I've caught two fish on it so far. One thing i'm kinda having trouble with is I feel like sometimes I could be shaking it after a fish will grab it subtly and scare it aware not evening knowing for sure if a fish had ahold of it. etnfishing/scratch.gif

rod senseativity has a lot to with it, i still have trouble detecting bites at times too. it practice and more practice Bubba, hang in there and it will come to you. a lot of times they will hit on the fall, keep a close eye on your line, sometimes they want it slow, jist move it a little give it a shake with your rod tip and keep a close eye on your line. you need to set your hook any time it feels unusal

This is when I tend to get a good hookset.....right into a big whoping pile of brush, or a crevasse in a rock. laugh.gif

Thanks snoot. Guess i'm just gonna have to keep practicing at it. I think my rod probably does have some to do with it too...i've got a 6' M bionic blade and the rod tip isnt really "flippy" at all which may be why i'm feeling i'm moving the bait more than shaking it.
