If you have never fished them, and are looking for a new rod, give them a try. The new models are coming out in a few weeks. IM10 graphite, and foam handles like on the Diawa STEEZ rods. The hook keepers are integrated into the handles also "hidden". Over the counter LIFETIME warranty also. Might want to check them out..
Any idea how much money one would set you back?
Will BPS carry them?

Yup, BPS has got em'. Last time I went there with Mike they were 89.99 I believe. Possibly 99.99....one or the other.
The Compres are $89-$99......the Crucials are $129-$159 for casting rods. The spinning rods are the same price for the Compres and $129-$139 for the Crucials.
Been wanting to try the Crucials myself.
Oops, I was mistaken on what I had looked at at BPS..haha. But anyways, Yeah.....What they^^^ said.
BPS has a few. Better selection at Cabelas online, or Gander Mntn. You wont be dissapointed. I think they are more sensitive than Loomis GLX rods.
Checked out a Crucial today....nice, real nice...now I wish I hadn't.
From what I have heard, Shimano bought out Loomis and took some of the technology and built the Crucial.
I have heard the same thing. A little higher modulus graphite in the Shimano, and an easier warranty. The Crucial blanks are in bewteen a IMX and a GLX, I think. I think they have alot better "feel" to them also, and the handles are more comfortable..
I have an older one that's a 7'10" crankin' stick. That thing will cast the line off the reel with a 1/2 oz. rattletrap! I would like to have one of the new models, but that will have to wait.....
I have a crucial and a gloomis glx and imx and the gloomis's are lighter than the crucial but the warranty is better than the loomis but crucials are great rods i'll buy another one over a loomis
I've Heard the same rumor that crucial's are the same rod blanks as loomis except one is black and the other is maroon. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this rumor?????
Shimano owns G Loomis, or owns the name. The blanks are different. Crucials are made in Japan, Looms are made in USA. Crucials are a greenish/black blank, Loomis are carbon colored, except the spinnerbait and crankbait series. The cheaper Loomis are Green, blue and numerous other colors. They are not the same.
My buddy has had 2 crucials break on him in the past 2 weeks. he took the first one back to bass pro (which was where he bought it originally) and with the over the counter warranty they have, he got a brand new one. Last Sat night was the first time he had it out we were fishing a dock and he tried to flip a jig under the dock and hit the tip of the rod on a cable that was just off the edge of the boat. He just barely bumped it against the cable but the rod snapped at about the 2nd eye down from the tip. It is a 6'6" Medium Heavy. It must have had a weak spot or somethin in it. We're heading back to Bass Pro in the morning to get a new one. I thought about getting one myself because they feel like great rods. The warranty is pretty sweet but if they break that easy i dont know if i wanna buy one now.
I bought a G Loomis GL2 a couple of years ago and the reel seat came unglued after about a year of use. I sent them an email and they told me to ship it back. They sent me a new one that was an even better model than the first one i had. In my opinion, its hard to beat a G Loomis. I love mine.
I have a crucial, think it ran $139 or so from Cabelas, love it. I'm pretty hard on my toys too and haven't broken it yet.
