Ok, So i'm looking forward to trying this fnf stuff this winter once the water starts cooling on down some. But I was looking at bass pros website and those dang flys arent cheap. So I was thinking about maybe tying my own. I see alot of you guys do your own and I think it would be something I could enjoy as well rather than just doing it cuz I have to. Only thing is i'm low on money and cant really afford one of those kits that some places sell. I was just wondering where would be the cheapest place I could get one of those clamps and bobbin to start tying. Also, any other tips on how to get started would be appreciated too. Thanks!

You can get a decent vise from Cabelas for 20 bucks. You can buy a nice kit for around 40.

You can also look on ebay. They have alot of kits to look through. I found this one with some extra stuff. It's worth watching.

I have plenty of material that you can have. It consists mostly of craft hair in several colors and I have a few duck feathers left.

It is a relaxing hobby to get in to. I am not tying flies anymore, so I don't care to part with this stuff.

I don't care to ship it or we can meet sometime, which ever you want to do.

Just let me know.

Norris, Laurel, and Dale Hollow. Mostly Norris.

I want to do Norris this year. I've never float and flyed it. How deep do you usually fish?

On South Holston, I usually start out around 8ft, but have gone as deep as 20. 15 feet seemed to be the magic number on Holston.

I will fish a leader anywhere between 8-20ft. 12-14 seems to be the most common for me though. I have caught them on 6ft. leader early in the days before. Best thing to do is just play around with it. Also look for balls of shad and see what is the shallowest depth they are holding and set your leader 1 to 2 ft. above it. You want that fly/jig to suspend right above their face!!

I try to never fish sunny days or after an extreme cold front b/c the bait will stay too deep to throw the fnf. Best is overcast or during a frontal system (low presure).
