Yamaha HPDIs 150 and up have a 5 year warranty. Standard 3 years and an added 2 years for the boat show season. Yamaha 4 strokes have at least a 5 year warranty... maybe a 6. I cant remember off the top of my head. I've heard to many horror stories on the E-Tecs for them to get my vote of confidence. I dont want to step on any E-Tec owner's toes and I'm not saying the cant or dont make a good motor but I know of several that have had complete melt downs. The motors run quiet and have good fuel efficiency but there are an awful lot of them in the shop. I just dont think they have there oiling system perfected yet and it's causing a lot of problems. That might be the reason for the 6 year warranty they have??? |

Well I seen where you were a Mercurcury owner. I was going to suggest the new Pro XS series motors. My buddies brother works on motors and went to school to work on mercury motors. He said they are one awesome motor. Very dependable and get great fuel milaege. |

I knoooooow I am in the minority here but Verado, Baby- Verado. I gots one hangin' off the back off of the lead sled and I have to look and see if it is peeing water out of the back at idle to see if it is even running it is so quite. I gave away all of my extra 2 stroke oil when I bought it. :stir: You are more than welcome to meet me and take it for a spin if you have never experienced a 4 stroke. Weight be daxxed- it'll haul bootie!!!

A bud of mine swapped from his '01 225EFI to the ProXS and he said his gas consumption is ALOT better then the EFI. His old EFI had well over 700 hours on it, still going strong. Hes glad he made the switch. I think if you could get one with 5 yrs of warranty thats what I would do. If you go with a different engine brand you have to figure in swapping controls, wiring harness, etc. That can add up. But, the dealer can make or break the deal. There are lots of Merc dealers in the area, Madisonville Marine, Reynolds Racing Marine, and Lindas Lakeside marine are 3 good ones I know of.
